The Inn
The 1802 House is owned and operated by Teri and Roger Walker who have recently returned to the US from living abroad. When you meet Roger you will hear the English accent. While Teri is American, she did live in the UK for 20 years and you will find their English influences throughout the Inn.
The original colonial house was built in 1802 with extensions added in the 90’s when it was converted into a Bed and Breakfast. 1802 House is now counted as one of Kennebunkport’s finest historic Inns. Ideally located in a quiet tranquil area, the Inn is only a short walk to Dock Square, the quaint center of the village and home to fabulous boutiques, unique galleries and fine restaurants. We are also a club’s length from the Cape Arundel Golf Course.
Our six guest rooms take their names from places in Maine. Anglophiles will also note that these names come from places in England as well. Most notably are two castles; the widely known Windsor Castle (one of Queen Elizabeth II’s homes) and the lesser known, and Teri’s favourite, Arundel Castle. Arundel has been home to the Dukes of Norfolk who have played significant roles in English history dating all the way back to Henry VIII and his daughter Elizabeth I.
A three course breakfast is served daily in our main dining room. We strive to source fresh produce wherever possible so that our guests get some of the best that Maine has to offer from our local growers. Start the morning with assorted fruit juices and freshly brewed tea and coffee. Our menu’s change daily and include classics such as Maine Blueberry Pancakes and Eggs Benedict. We alternate daily between savoury and sweet entree’s. We are happy to accommodate our guests with special requests and allergies if you would please give us 24 hours’ notice of your requirements.
For our early risers who want to get on the road, we will happily prepare a breakfast-to-go for you that can be ready to pick up as early as 7:00am. Again, please give us 24 hours’ notice of your requirements.
A selection of tea, coffee and cold drinks are available throughout the day along with fresh baked cakes and pastries for afternoon tea.
